This year’s Best Stay conference will be focused on the best hospitality trends that work in practice. What are the current trends that you see happening?

The hospitality industry, as a whole, has been constantly growing over the last decade and trends on the global scene are changing faster than ever. Millennials are getting older and are slowly reshaping tourist market, crypto tourism is growing and artificial intelligence is starting to make guests stay simpler and carefree while allowing hotel staff to focus on the guests’ experiences.

When it comes to travel experiences, it needs to be noted that it’s generating a substantial part of the revenue in the industry and is still growing. Creatively packed activities that enable guests to experience the genuine sense of the place or to feel excitement by getting familiar with a local lifestyle inspired by local culture and heritage, can become that special reason that will distinguish you in the hearts and minds of all those who have chosen to stay with you.

Exploration of new possibilities around travel experiences is one of the challenges that is definitely transcending the sector.

 

At Best Stay, you will be giving a presentation about destination management based on a case study of Lešić Dimitri Palace – could you give us a short insight?

Reconstructing old bishops’ palace into an exclusive five-star property on an island not known as a luxury destination was quite challenging in terms of promoting Lešić Dimitri Palace. From the very beginning, we knew that on top of the high-end accommodation we had designed, we would have to create the offer that would, through a creative approach, highlight the best of Korčula to make it desirable to the luxury goods consumers. By developing successful partnerships with small local business and the local community we have influenced the quality of the local tourist offer. Through various events and projects – cultural, sport, culinary that we have either created or participated in, we have significantly contributed to the repositioning of Korčula as a destination on the global tourist market. The creation of such a new offer of high-quality experiences thus opened doors to the desired affluent consumer segment.

My presentation will familiarise you with these projects.

 

What would you share with our participants if you would have only one minute?

If I had just one minute to share it with other participants at the conference I would highlight how important it is to truly believe in what you do. Instinctively, rationally and emotionally.

What you believe in, you should do best you can in a creative way. This attitude no doubt fosters professional self-confidence, increases motivation and makes you want to improve your skills even more. Being truly passionate about high-quality service while trying to make your clients joyful and happy – that is what in the end makes the difference.

 

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s Best Stay?

When thinking about the forthcoming conference, I am mostly looking forward to meeting colleagues from the industry, exchanging different work experiences, sharing best practices and out of all of that getting inspiration for future projects.
